  • The Camshaft Sensor, also known as the camshaft position sensor (CMP sensor), is an electronic engine management component that monitors the position and rotational speed of the camshaft. It sends real-time data to the engine control unit (ECU) to ensure precise fuel injection timing and ignition timing. Working together with the crankshaft position sensor, the camshaft sensor helps determine which cylinder is in the power stroke. This allows the ECU to control sequential fuel injection and optimize engine performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions. A faulty camshaft sensor may cause symptoms such as engine misfires, rough idling, poor acceleration, difficulty starting, or a check engine light. Manufactured with magnetic or Hall-effect sensing technology, camshaft sensors are designed to withstand high temperatures, vibration, and harsh engine bay conditions.
